Angular Acceleration is described as the rate of change of angular velocity, it is also recognized as rotational acceleration. According to the author the magnitudes and lengths of angular acceleration vectors are proportional to the rate of change of angular velocity. Depending on the direction in which an object such a platter is rotation the angular acceleration could be pointing toward or away the observer, in this lab we are going to be investigating the rotational motion for which a dish undergoes. For this experiment we are going to be testing three spindles with different radius. According to the author, in this experiment we are going to be applying Newton’s second law which is Linear: Fy=T-mg=ma and Angular t=rT=Ia.( Cutnell)

Then, we measured the radios and the mass of the platter. In addition, we use the equation for inertia I=(1/2)MR^2. Depending on the result from the previous steps it has to be determined if equations A=(mgr/I) and T=mg are the easier equations to solve the problem. Then we had to predict on graphs (A vs m), (A vs r), (A vs I). (A) being Angular acceleration, (I) inertia, (r) radius, and (m) mass, prediction (Pic1). When setting the platter make sure to use the bubble level in order to get the equipment levelled, this step is really important in order to get accurate results(Pic2). Then, connect the photogate to the LabQuest and start logger pro on the PC. Open the Probes and Sensors folder, then open the photogate folder, finally open the file (Pulley).
