"To take a life when a life has been lost is revenge, not justice." Desmond Tutu said this and I could not agree more. I think that capital punishment is morality wrong, and that Walter Berns’ “The Morality of Capital Punishment” article in Exploring Ethics fails on many grounds. Berns uses anger and a politically correct government to advocate the use of capital punishment. I am going to try and prove that Burns is wrong, and that by killing we are only fueling the fire and a continuous cycle.…

John Swinton’s, “Raging with Compassion: Pastoral Responses to the Problem of Evil”, is the most informative book I have read regarding practical theodicy. Swinton’s pastoral theodicy does not try to explain or deny evil or suffering, but enables the Christian community to live faithfully despite the presence of evil. He explains that lament; forgiveness, thoughtfulness and hospitality are the four-core practices that form the bases of practical theodicy. As I reflect on the four-core practices, which Swinton describes in his book, I can honestly say that I have not witnessed or observed all four-core practices continuously working in any of the churches that I have attended.…

Although I still do believe that if someone gets angry often they need to start taking time to have “me time”. “Me time” is time to yourself to think and do something that makes you feel good. I believe that this time is extremely important for someone that experiences anger, or stress. I believe that anger is one of the most important emotions for someone to pay attention to and everyone should learn about anger to find out what is the right amount of anger to have and what they should do to help them…

In the ups and downs of life, we are all going to have times of anger, but we can lessen anger 's damage if we remember the words of Ephesians 4:26, " If you are angry, don 't sin by nursing your grudge. Don 't let the sun go down with you still angry - get over it quickly; for when you are angry you give a mighty foothold to the devil." Or perhaps we should avoid anger altogether. To help with this, we should remember the advice of Ecclesiastes 7:9: 'Don 't be quick tempered - that is being a fool;" or the words of Proverbs 17:32, "It is better to be slow-tempered than famous; it is better to have self-control than to control an…
