Americans are known for having countless idolized figures in pop culture, politics, and various other categories. Many of these individuals have many unique qualities that define them as icons. Those qualities make them loved because of who they are. Angelina Jolie, for one, can be seen as a motherly nurturer, an award-winning actress, or a devoted humanitarian. This goes to show that, unlike most people, she is fascinated with all things related to blood and gore. The actress is able to openly speak about who she is, and shows the security that she has with herself. She is able to display the security that she has within herself due to the mental strength that she embodies. One of her biggest personality traits is that she loves knives, and is open about eating red meat. The actress has explained to Rolling Stone that, "People do always think that because I have tattoos, I'm bad, or that there's something very dark about me, or that I think about death. And I'm probably the least morbid person. I've kind of discovered that if I think about death much more than some people have, it's because I love life more than those people" (“Angelina Jolie” 2). Generally, people with tattoos or piercings get pegged as bad people, which isn’t true. There are many sides to human beings, and Jolie happens to show the many sides to her daily. It isn’t fair that people get so harshly judged by the decisions that they make with their bodies. She speaks out about this by saying, “But there’s a side of me that’s soft. I love my family; I want to be a mother. Don’t pin me down to one thing” (“Angelina Jolie” 2). In this quote, as any person would, Jolie expresses that she is more than what a few critics see. She is able to be a “bad girl” on screen and in the press as well as a nurturer to her
