Angela's Monologue

Improved Essays
It was a very cold and quiet night wind moving across a ground covered in an icy sheen where even the footpath of a mouse could be heard. As I was walking the only thing on my mind was how I will tell Victor that I killed Angela. As I began to walk back home, I saw a young woman she was as beautiful as a freshly grown rose her face was as light as a shining star in the sky and her long brown hair flowing through the wind freely. “Angela” I cried, hoping that the lady didn’t notice me staring “Excuse me sir are you ok.? “she said anxiously. I couldn’t utter any words out of my mouth all I could think of is how my life would be if Angela was here. “Sir…” she said again “Oh I’m sorry, Yes I’m fine…” I said, hoping that this will be the last lie

She sits on the wicker rocking chair on her dull porch that’s coordinates with her dull house which coordinates with this dull atmosphere. Once I start to get close to the road, I turn to face her to offer her a friendly wave. “Goodbye, Gregory.…

Angela Carter wrote ‘The Bloody Chamber’ in 1979 it was set in the early 20th century in France, Carter showed the difference between the past and present. In the past women were oppressed and did not have any freedom, but in the present women are being treated more equally. I chose this source as it was a dark twisted story describing the role of a woman in a household and how they were actually treated behind doors. Using the short story source I changed the genre to a dramatic monologue. The genre helped shed a new light on a minor character’s experience and relationship from the source, the secondary purpose was to give some clues to why the master killed.…
