And whoever has food should do likewise.” Luke 3:10-11 In this passage by Luke portrays about helping others and giving. Helping others is one of the most valuable character traits in a child of God. I feel the call and need to go out help others as Jesus did. I believe this mission trip will change my point of view in life and how other people live throughout the world. As I experience my teenage life and wanting to be a future Congresswomen I feel encouraged that this is my chance to explore the world thats waiting ahead of me.

“Western Christians in Global Mission” by Paul Borthwick looks at the state of Christianity around the world, and provides a glimpse into how Americans and Western Christians can and should be involved in missions. The thesis of the book is that we need to get beyond ourselves to see what God is doing in the world, and be challenged to discover afresh where we fit and how we can be a part of God’s global missional plan for humanity. Throughout the book, Borthwick gives a great comprehensive look at where Christianity is currently at in the world. He begins by discussing how in the past, he understood missions from an American-centric viewpoint.…

In today’s society, people are swept up in the wrath of being too prideful, or become greedy. These deadly sins deaden our religious life, causing us to distance ourselves from God’s path. Everyone must dig deep into their spiritual lives, and lend a helping hand to those who need it the most. Whether it’s simply having a conversation with a homeless person, donating money, or volunteering at a daycare for the destitute children, these charitable acts can make a huge difference in someone’s life. My service learning experience was an eye opener for me, and it made me realize how privileged and blessed I truly am.…

Divine Trust Trusting in a divinity isn’t as easy or straightforward as it sounds. I can most definitely attest to this. As a person raised in the Christian church I have not only have I lived this statement, but over the years I’ve seen it in the lives of various friends in my youth group. I continue to see this struggle to trust throughout the plot of “The Odyssey” by Homer. The protagonist Odysseus, his son Telemachus, and Odysseus’ ship’s crew all are prime examples.…

This past week’s presentation provided several insights into my future ministry as a Salvation Army officer. Like, the Generals discussed so far their ministry began by receiving the call. Their witness and faithfulness to the call, the Army, and the Lord is source of encouragement that I can draw from in my own officership. William Booth received his Call to establish a ministry that had no resemblance to the ministry of his day. His call and passion was to the poor and not to visions of grandeur.…

The purpose of a mission trip is not to save everyone or solve hunger. Many people who take mission trip have this mentality, and I 'm not going to lie, my first mission trip this is what I expected. I believed that I was going to be the one person to go down and “change” the people. This idea is far from reality, but I realize that you can make a difference in some people’s lives.
