He uses different material and techniques for each type of work. Otero is renowned for his skin paintings, and for the skin he used dried oil paint sheets that he glued and then collaged it on the surface of canvas. He also scrapes off the oil paint and attaches it to distorted surface, which gives it more of a three dimensional look. For the transfer he projected the digitized photograph on canvas and then drafted the parts of the image in silicone and then he applied powdered graphite to the silicone. Lastly he use to squeeze the surface using the Plexiglas. Otero’s transfer paintings looked more like if they were printed, then painted. The Sculptures that Otero made were from wrought-iron gates that he found on the streets fused with porcelain and unfired clay. The technique he used was so different that studios didn’t allow him to use their kilns so he had to buy his own. These sculptures represented his grandmother’s home. Angel Otero’s collage were made from oil paint and oil paint skins collaged together on canvas. The collages were painted using oil paint, his collages gave out a three dimensional effect. I personally liked the Skin paintings the most because it was the first time I was seeing this kind of painting, it amused me and I felt like touching
