Maya Moore and Angel McCoughtry are both considered legends in the WNBA. Have you ever tried to debate whether one player was better than another? Maya Moore is the superior player over Angel McCoughtry. Maya Moore is a better defensive player, offensive player, and also has a more successful career than Angel McCoughtry. Maya Moore and Angel McCoughtry are both a strong defensive presence making giant blocks. Maya Moore is a better defensive player than Angel McCoughtry. Maya Moore is an exceptional defensive stopper making the defense turnover the ball. She gets in the lane to deflect the ball, goes for the loose ball, and also goes strong for the rebound with 6.7 rebounds a game. Maya Moore exceptional offensive mind makes her a better offensive player than McCoughtry. Maya plays off what the defense gives her whether it is driving to the basket, coming up the much needed shot, or getting the pass to the open player and averages 3.5 assists per game. Maya is constantly a key member in the offense’s success. Maya also goes after her own rebound and is relentless in getting the board. She is constantly moving to the ball and cutting for the basket and also creates her own shot. Efficient in transition going strong and is unstoppable going to the basket. She never gives up on the offense and will put the team on her back to win the game. Maya Moore scored 48 points, the second most points in the WNBA, against Angel McCoughtry in the 2014 playoffs. Maya Moore won the game for Minnesota against Indiana in the finals with a three in 1.7 seconds. Angel McCoughtry deficiency in seeing the court and the inability to make opponents play her game makes Moore the better player. Angel McCoughtry often gets caught up on missed calls missing the next play and often lets her emotion cloud her judgment. Angel settles for the three or drives to the basket; she doesn’t shoot the mid-range shot. McCoughtry averages 2.8 assists per game but forces plays whether it is forcing passes to players not open or forces the shot that is not there that leads to a turnover. Maya Moore far surpasses the career of Angel McCoughtry proving she is better than her fellow competitor. Maya started her WNBA career taking arguably the worst team the WNBA in championship material winning a championship in 2011. Moore’s remarkable success in her first year in the WNBA it came to no surprise she won Rookie of the year also that year. In 2012 Moore had a quite year in the WNBA being swept in the Finals. However, Moore made a splash in the EuroLeague Women’s Championship and also helping USA win gold in the 2012 Olympics, where she earned the right to MVP. In 2013 Maya won her second WNBA title; she scored 23 points which made her the obvious choice for MVP. Then 2014 Maya continued her skip in winning WNBA championships instead of FIBA championship MVP. Although, Maya didn’t win a championship in 2014 she still let her hard work be known in being WNBA scoring leader. In 2015 Moore’s reign continued winning her third WNBA championship in five years. Maya Moore has never gone consecutive years without winning a Championship since High School. Angel McCoughtry comes up short when it comes to achievements. Like Maya, Angel McCoughtry won Rookie of the year in 2009. Angel is a two time WNBA scoring champion in 2012 and 2013. Angel is continuously in the debate of MVP, but has failed to win the contest.
