Anesthesiology Personal Statement

Anesthesiology is my specialty of choice for residency training and it is clear that it has chosen me as well. During my anesthesia rotations, I realized how much I enjoyed perioperative medicine and bringing comfort to patients undergoing surgery. Implementation of treatment plans that improve the wellbeing of surgery teams and patients is a part of me. This field has a broad scope which offers consistent challenges and intellectual stimulation. Each patient has their own personal needs and present unique challenges, either physically or intellectually. Maintaining a strong connection with patients and colleagues is what I love. To be more specific, I am a team player, committed to lifelong learning, have good interpersonal skills, and I accept challenges with the goal of rising above and solving them. These four strong capabilities are very applicable in the field of anesthesiology and I want to apply them and become an intelligent anesthesiologist who uses this knowledge to benefit humanity. Study and continuous practice are the main requirements for excellence in anything. This applies in the field of medicine where changes are occurring day after day. My volunteer experience I gained in the American Medical Association, St. Martin exposed me to health screening of patients and helping with tasks such as lifestyle counseling. This excitement will be beneficial to me and all my patients. Past interaction with fellows, residents, and the faculty at large makes it clear that I am very fit for this particular field. Professionalism is my character, analytic is my approach, flexibility is my greatest strength, and easy is my personality. Finding a program that encourages all its residents to effectively access the patients and guide them through the rigors and challenges of surgery is my desire.
