Kate provided a stable and secure home. The grandmother note only provides a stable home but also provides for Andy for example Kate states “We can practice learning that story your teacher assigned you in class” (Bridge, 2008, p. 28). Kate is providing for his educational needs as well as emotional though her caring demeanor.
Even after Andy became a forester child grandma Kate was still the only stable in his life. Kate proves this with a letter “ Dear Andy, the leaf of notebook paper read. Hope you didn’t think Grandma forgot you. Have been given permission to see you. Been saving and not making calls. Should have enough for a plane ticket in the spring” (Bridge, 2008, p. 216).
