We live in our galaxy called the Milky Way. It is called this because early human civilizations thought it looked like a giant milky swirl in the night sky. The closest galaxy to the Milky Way, the Andromeda galaxy, is approximately 2.5 billion light-years from the Milky Way, and is said to have a strong gravitational pull with the Milky Way, and will eventually collide in several billion years. The collision is theorized to cause the two galaxies to merge, greatly affecting what already exists in each, but could create more. Andromeda is said to have about 35 possible black holes, 7 of which are close to the center of the galaxy.
