The constellation that I've chosen is Andromeda- the chained woman. I've chosen that constellation because the myth interest me. Basically Andromeda was named the chained woman because she was chained to the rock because her mother said she was more beautiful than the Nereids.

In ancient Greece Cepheus and Cassiopeia had a daughter named Andromeda. One day Cassiopeia boasted to everyone and anyone how Andromeda was more beautiful than the Nereids, the nymph-daughters of the sea-god Nereus. To punish the queen for being arrogant, Posedion sent a sea monster named Cetus to reek havoc on the cost of Aethiopia and the kingdom of the queen. Cepheus consulted the Oracle of Apollo on how to stop it. The Oracle told him either sacrifice your daughter or it won't stop. So Andromeda was stripped naked and chained a rock on the coast. So Perseus coming home from slaying Medusa, sees Andromeda and saves her from the monster by slaying it while invisible (because he was wearing Hades helm). He sets her free and marries her (but she's

One day Cassiopeia told everyone who would listen "My daughter is more beautiful than Nereids. Posedian overheard this and decided to punish Cassiopeia. He said "I will send Cetus to destroy the coast of Aethiopiea and her kingdom for her arrogance."

King Cereus decided to consult the Oracle of Apollo of the best way to get rid of the monster. The Oracle said "Either sacrifice Andromeda to Cetus or he won't go away." So they stripped her naked and chained her to a stone on the coast. Soon Pereus came along fresh from his battle with Gorgon Medusa. He saw Cetus and Andromeda. He made his crew sail towards them. While wearing Hades helm which made him invisible, he slayed Cetus and set Andromeda free. Grateful towards her rescuer she asked "How can I repay you?" Taken in by her beauty he ask "Will you marry

In Homer’s epic, The Odyssey, Odysseus is finally released from Calypso after seven years. Odysseus proceeded to lead his men on his way back home to be reunited with his wife, Penelope. Today, Homer is globally seen as a great leader for his men, but his clear demonstration of pride, daringness, and his pettiness made him a horrible leader. One of the biggest weaknesses for leaders is having too much pride, and Odysseus has more than enough of that, as shown in the Cyclops. Odysseus’ crew was caught by a Cyclops, but when he got away he decided to insult the Cyclops (The Cyclops. 476).…

I have chosen Cancer as my favorite constellation because it is the sign I was born under. Latin for "crab", it is the dimmest of all the zodiac constellations and used to be the Sun's most northerly position in the sky. It is located in between Gemini (to its west) and Leo(to its east). It is best known among stargazers as home of Praesepe, an open cluster. Cancer is most well known in Greek mythology as the crab sent by the goddess Hera to help the hydra kill Heracles.…

ITHACA — The shrewd, courageous and tactful Odysseus has returned to Ithaca after 20 years. Disguised as a beggar, he has slaughtered the suitors who have plagued his house for years. With no word of Odysseus for ages, it seemed hopeless for his wife Penelope to see him once again. Stubborn and unwilling to marry the brazen and selfish suitors, she prolonged her marriage by unweaving her web. By doing so, it may have been the perfect amount of stall time for Odysseus’s return.…

The constellation I have chosen as my favorite is Virgo (The Virgin), for the simple fact that it is my zodiac sign. I do not know much about the constellation except for a few bits of information, like the fact that it is the second largest constellation that can be seen in the sky. The creation myths of virgo is another piece of information I know from previous research. Virgo is associated with a few different Greek and Roman myths of different goddesses. She is sometimes considered to be the goddess of wheat and agriculture (Demeter-Ceres).…

In the epic, The Odyssey written by Homer, the main character Odysseus shows many characteristics of a bad leader. Bad leaders let their arrogance get in the way of protecting their followers. After Odysseus and his crew escape the Cyclops’ cave, he is filled with pride , and becomes very arrogant. Because of this he idiotically shouts “‘Cyclops, if any one asks you who it was that put your eye out and spoiled your beauty, say it was the valiant warrior Odysseus, son of Laertes, who lives in Ithaca’” (Book 9 Homer).…

My favorite constellation is the Cetus or 'whale' because I think it looks more like a frying pan than a whale. The Cetus is a constellation made up of 88 stars and the brightest star is called Deneb Kaitos. The Cetus is very close to the other zodiac constellations such as Aries, Pisces and Aquarius. The creation story of the Cetus constellation stems from Greek mythology. In this story the Cetus is called a Sea Monster and not a whale.…
