Humanity and technology have coexisted since the beginning of mankind. If removed of technology, this species would not have survived as long as we have: since we do not have much hair, we would have frozen to death because there would have been no way to create and keep a fire going to warm us up enough to stay alive and keep predators away. If there was an encounter with a predator, the predator would have most likely prevailed due to our inferiority in strength and speed. The aid of technology has made us evolve into the smartest species dominating the earth. As we evolved, the technology aiding us evolved as well. Now, we have super computers, smartphones, hoverboards, etc. People opposing technology are thinking of modern technology, which was almost non-existent during their upbringing, arguing that this technology is …show more content…
The paranoid view on modern technology is that it is a threat to the human race. Once people create something that recognizes human imperfections, it could think higher of itself in relation to us and refuse our orders. Philip K Dick wrote a book called Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep discussing human nature, the potential threat technology has on the human race, and also showing what distinguishes humans from technology: vigor and empathy. In the novel, the creator of the almost indistinguishable androids, Elden Rose, told Rick Deckard, the android bounty hunter main character, that the reason his company created them is that they “‘produced what the colonists wanted… If our firm hadn't made these progressively more human types, other firms in the field would have’” (FIND THE PAGE NUMBER).
