Androgenic anabolic steroids were introduced first in the 1950s with the purpose of treating victims of certain muscular diseases even anemia, and preventing muscle atrophy of patients that had undergone surgery (“Are Athletes Looking Good,” 2010). Increase in mass of both the muscle and the bone was the effect of steroids that was very much evident in adult men and their physical attributes (Marieb, 2002).
