Andrew Wyeth Christina's World Analysis

Decent Essays
From my point of view, in the great painting “Christina’s world” by Andrew Wyeth, it is used rectangles and triangles paints to create structure as an element of shape. Wyeth also imply lines, using many straight lines for the grass that coverts the field. The sky and the dress seem very smooth while the grass is painted to look spiky. The colors are very dim and dull, with gray, peach, and brown. The woman’s dress is light pink. Another elements and principles of design are presented and such paint, where lines also come from buildings, curved lines for woman’s hair and body. The texture becomes soft, cloudy sky and spiky grass. I think that all of the elements and designs exposed in these paint are created to accurately portray Christina,

example of Catherine’s desire to be loved is implicitly implied through her seeing danger in every corner of the court because she believed that she is disposable because she is feeling unloved in a foreign place with rules and dangers that are unknown to her. Chomsky uses the insecurity that Catherine may have felt upon her first arrival in Russia to portray her as a feeble girl who needs to be loved in a potentially dangerous and hostile world. Chomsky uses small portions of the primary sources to show Catherine as a weak ruler who is constantly seeking love through her many lovers throughout the film. Chomsky shows her as a female ruler who needs support from strong masculine personalities such as her lovers and the Grand Chancellor and Vice Chancellor. These men, whom she typically has a love for in either a romantic way or fatherly way, play a large role in her decision-making throughout the film.…

Let’s go back in time and analyze the 19th century. Society was in a very different stage of evolving and woman got the short end of the stick. “Maternity, the natural biological role of women, has traditionally been regarded as their major social role” (WIC). On the other side, men were expected to bring in the income and support the family’s well-being. Women were seen as the weaker sex, physically, mentally, emotionally, and intellectually.…

Art is a controversial topic to discuss, and also a great medium for expressing messages about topics that are both controversial, and non-controversial. In the play Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Steve Martin uses a cast of characters that includes artistic and scientific geniuses of the 20th century to talk about subjects related to art and science. on the wall of the bar where the characters are, there is a painting of sheep in some fog. The conversation between the characters shifts to this painting when one of the characters, Suzanne refers to the painting on the wall, saying that it is not like Picasso’s paintings. The barkeep is insulted by this and defends his painting, saying that he sees it as “Sheep in a meadow in the fog.…

Your analysis of Andrew Wyeth's Christina's World, regarding scale and proportion was interesting to read. According to our class reading this week, Professor Tessier explained that “proportion is the size of a part in relation to the whole” (Tessier, 2017). You mentioned proportion in the painting regarding Christina being the largest object in the art work. My observation regarding proportion in this artwork was the vast size of the field in relation to the distance between Christina and the small farmhouse. My interpretation of the vast field was that, Andrew Wyeth wanted to create a sense of isolation between Christina and the farmhouse.…

Drawing focuses on a 2-dimensional surface. The sculptors drew 2-dimensional versions of their sculptures as a plan to create the work, as clarification of their work. They have drawn to the three aspects to “Seeing”: visual perception - the ability of the brain to accurately judge the shapes, relationships and proportions evident in the data that our eyes take in, visualising - our ability to recognise and organise the ‘drawing potential” of a subject, visual literacy -the ability to read and interpret the marks of the drawing itself. Giacometti’s perceptual drawing is almost an exact depiction of his sculpture, utilising line to create tone, thus transforming the image from 2-dimensional to 3-dimensional. Giacometti’s and Goldsworthy’s sculptures are very distinctive, but their drawings are very similar.…

The woman looks very sharp and fragile, and to show that she is also crying and breaking down into pieces. The line is very dominant in this artwork. The wavy lines are used to create her hair, and the straight and zig-zag lines are mostly used to create her and make her look sharp. The texture is also present to make the woman look very sharp and also the wall behind her looks really rough. The form isn’t shown so the woman looks very flat.…

I was fascinated to learn about the elements in Art. I had always thought that art had no organization, guidance or system. I thought that people just painted or drew pretty much whatever they wanted with no apparent rules. The Visual Elements that Getlein mentions on chapter 4 consist of the following; line shape and mass, light, color, texture and pattern and last but not least; time and motion (Getlein, 2012). These elements are intrinsically woven in art!…

Also, the mixture of warm colors on top combined with primary and secondary colors give the painting a delicate effect particularly the three green brush strokes as it adds even more mystery to the painting. Furthermore, the diagonal lines that shape the floor and the barriers of the bridge and the curved lines on the water make a combination of energy and endlessness at the same time because the side of where the scared looking person is, looks completely different from where the water, which is what perhaps reflects the degree of anxiety that the scared looking person was suffering in that particular…
