The cohesion between rival tribes was crucial for survival. Not all resources can one group get, it has to be a collective group effort for that is when human success is seen to grow. During the times of survival and not knowing when your next meal is, a joint effort between tribes to help eachother out is what raised the bar for mankind. The separation between tribalism is what causes more dysfunctional issues for the people. By coming through tribal cohesion these people who were struggling to survive now have another life line they can fall back too. It’s a nasty world to be separated and it only makes things more difficult in the long run. I agree with Sullivan’s ideas on tribal cohesion because it makes sense. To become stronger you must make allies, even if these allies were once your enemy it's better to keep your enemies as friends than keep them as an enemy. Tribal cohesion is how mankind has made it to such drastic measures today. The groups that existed years ago lived in the harsh elements without technology or any other social development. These people knew they were going to die if they didn’t join together to help find resources. Once it turns into survival mode it is different and people can usually put aside their differences. Currently, we live in age where most humans are fortunate enough to not have to worry about survival or where the next meal is coming from. We live in a society that hands everything to us, and naturally we lost the incentive of survival, which makes it’s hard to come to a basis and agree upon anything. Tribalism is what separates us but also what represents us. If someone is so stuck to their beliefs then it’s difficult to make any improvements because one group of people is too stubborn to give in to the other rival tribe.
