Aside from the two prominent issues depicted in WALL∙E, the plot centers on a robot designed to clean waste-covered earth called WALL∙E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class). After years of dull mundane life he has, WALL∙E finally experiences an adventures to outer space that changes to both his kind and humanity. What is more appealing is that over the course of the story, WALL∙E has developed a friendship slash romance to a robot called EVE (Short for Extra-Terrestrial Evaluator), which in a way highlights friendship as a significant element in a children’s film. As a matter of fact, this feature is also depicted in the other two films, Mars Needs Moms and Home. Friendship depicted in those three films, I argue, turns to be the medium to develop and nurture hope, courage, love, and conquer fear. The plot in this film is simple and depicts the main character’s struggle to rescue his mom who is kidnapped by the Martians. Together with Gribble, a fellow human who happens to live on Mars, and Ki, a fellow Martian, Milo tries to manage the rescue. Apart from the unique friendship, what is clearly displayed in this particular film is the relationship between a mother and son. Challenging a mother and son’s love is what featured in this film. In other word, family value is clearly depicted in this particular film. Equally, developing and nurturing certain expectant emotions are also portrayed as the prominent subject in Mars Needs Moms. Unlike WALL∙E which depicts what the future might be, Mars Needs Moms is situated in the present time. However, this is not to say that it does not contain any future expectation.
