Andrew Jackson Personality

Andrew Jackson is above average in my opinion because he had to implement the popular indian policy of removal, deal with the second national bank and handle the nullification crisis with South Carolina. Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States. His nickname was “Old Hickory” because of his toughness and aggressiveness.He was the first non -college educated chief executive since Washington, the book states that he was "primarily a self educated orphan who by dint of hard work, luck, and an incorrigible spirit. In his younger age he taught school and studied law in North Carolina. At just age 13 he joined a local militia as a courier, which was during the American Revolutionary War. Once he was elected he felt he had power over everyone, which is true, but in some cases it did go to the extreme. He began to use the system for his own gain because he wanted to have the most power and believed that because he got elected by the people, thats how it should be.But his image and different personality attracted people and this helped him use his political sense to his advantage with the people. Jackson paid off the entire federal debt, which is the only time in U.S. History that this has been accomplished. Jackson also worked to rebuild the second bank of the United States.He eventully removed government deposits. Also he created an action in 1833 called 'biddles panic".He declared that the states do not have the right to nullify federal laws during the “nullification process.” And lastly the most controversial aspect of Jackson presidency was his policy regarding the Native Americans and his measuring of ethnic cleansing.In 1832 he won re election by a landslide against Henry Clay.
