I met Andrea Seaberg two years ago when she was a senior at Detroit Lakes High School. She had been placed to work with me (a second grade teacher) from her School-To-Work advisor after she had told her that she was interested in becoming a teacher someday. Andrea and I hit it off immediately. She had the same love and energy that I feel I have as an educator. Needless to say, when she asked me to be her mentor throughout her schooling at Bemidji State University, I was thrilled. We met on a chilly day in January, and Andrea equipped me with the tools/expectations her university had created for the mentor program. I was to serve as a safe place, provide feedback and mentoring, open up my classroom, and communicate with the BSU Education Department.
