I found Mrs. Ascher when I was in that town for personal business about a few months ago, and I had noticed that she was often in her little shop alone. For letter B, I had to use slightly different tactics. By now, lonely women in shops would have been warned about a killer on the loose, so I had to change the characteristics of my next victim. I often visited tea shops and cafes, where I began to notice girls with names who began with the right letter. It was certainly easy for me! I know that I am quite charming and handsome, and that I would have no trouble getting them to laugh and chat

“Invitation to a Murder” is a story in which Josh Pachter composes numerous situations of irony. Lawrence Branigan, Chief Inspector of the New York City Police Department, received and opened a letter that was sent to his apartment on 240 Centre Street. It was a stamped, formal message which stated that he was to arrive at 217A West 86th Street between the hours of nine thirty and eleven o’ clock. Branigan was disorderly as he looked over the invitation once more. Mrs. Abbott was the women that sent the letter; furthermore, Branigan recognized the name.…

Despite that James M. Cain’s original novella demonstrates a good understanding of crime fiction and femme fatale, Wilder’s version was better due to changes he made to the protagonists: Huff, Keyes, and Phyllis. All in all, the original novella denotes a different approach to the audience that makes it less…

Although she looks young and inexperienced, it is not easy to hoodwink her, since she is a private detective by profession. Perhaps this is one of the reasons Charlotte Spencer is so successful; no one suspects that the small, quiet woman is capable of the astounding. She is most known for solving the seemingly impossible case of the Absent A-Listers. In her investigation, she discovered many of the town’s most prominent members had gone missing. The lower level police forces had no leads; there were no witnesses to any of the disappearances.…

This song strongly reminds me of Zach becasue he was always the master at pranks and finding ways to embarrass (bully) other students. The tone of the melody fits perfectly with Zach's personality becasue he is always thinking of a way to bully or pick on someone. According to pg. 14, the text states, "I did a quick scan to confirm there were no teachers looking on.... I reached up and snached a letter off.…

Although the town of Holcomb is characterized by its innocence, Capote uses language to contrast the innocence and simplicity of the town before and after the murder; therefore, it makes the murder seem more personal. The essay begins in a simple and uneventful way to put into perspective how ordinary the town was before the murder. Right away, Capote explains the ordinarity of Holcomb: “the village of Holcomb stands on the high wheat plains of western Kansas, a lonesome area that other Kansans call “out there.”’ (Capote 1).…

Bugs love me. It is an unrequited love. In the forests of North Carolina where I have spent summers since I was seven years old, it was a constant battle not to be consumed by the never ending mass of insects who rated me five-star cuisine. Maybe it was my fair skin, the light hue that drew them like a lantern in the night. Or maybe it was my fresh mint shampoo that made them think I was a part of the nature they so adored.…

They don’t know who the murderers are and for all they know it could be there neighbor, friend, co-worker, or even a family member. Something like the town of Holcomb or the Garden of Eden could sound so sweet and innocent and at the same time be ruined. The allusion show that the town is going to be turned to evil and will lose its innocence just like Eve did when she ate the apple from the tree of knowledge. Theses allusions early on in the novel are very effective to the development of the town and the tone. At first Holcomb is portrayed as a normal town where nothing bad ever happens.…
