White people should not be telling people of colour what to do and where to live, especially not blaming segregation on them because they wanted to stay within the community they grew up in. Keeping this in mind I understand where Anderson went wrong, neighbourhood integration is important because neighbourhood often dictate where children will go to school and what social capital you are exposed to, which can be very advantageous. Specifically because integrating children is very important. A way of solving this problem might be by not starting in schools, but rather in the work place. For example, imagine a black woman gets a good job at a predominantly white firm, she becomes good friends with one of her co-workers, as the years go on she starts earning more money, and subsequently decides to move, her co-worker tells her about a house that is for sale on their street and she likes it enough to move in, feeling safe because her friend is so nearby. Now if she eventually has children who live in that neighbour hood, it seems like a more gradual way of integrating that did not put any one out of their comfort zone. She may also tell some of her friends if there are any houses available and thus the neighbourhood becomes more diverse. No one told her or encouraged her to move to that neighbourhood, but if the workplace had not been integrated then she would not have had the
