Campbell's Soup Cans

I chose the image of the few of the dalmatian puppies from 101 Dalmatians Disney movie near a dog food can that is very similar in style to Andy Warhol’s Campbell 's soup cans. I chose this image because 101 Dalmatians is one of my favorite Disney films. I also enjoy some of Andy Warhol’s work and his Campbell’s Soup Cans is one of his more famous works.
I found this image is a part of the Disney fine art program. Tricia Buchanan-Benson is the artist of this piece. Many of her works are for Disney and other illustrations works. The image is a parody on Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans. The image also include a pun for having it hit the spot. The piece also using very similar color schemes by having the white and red soup can go with the white and red of the puppies.

Most everyone knows Disney and will be able to recognize the puppy characters instantly. And most people know Andy Warhol’s work since it first appeared in the early 1960s so the original image that the piece is parodying is still fairly recent and in people 's minds. Also the original image of the Campbell’s Soup Cans is parodying in different ways and is very easy to recognize. Since the 21st century is very used to advertisements being used daily the piece is a perfect portrayal. It shows how used to advertising we are. Included is a parody of a Campbell’s soup can and it even has characters from Disney so essentially the image is very heavily influenced by trying to secretly get you to buy their products. Which Disney themselves are very smart with their marketing so they are able to put their image on anything and get us to buy it.
