Perspective is used to give a different understanding of the story and its effects on its surroundings. Winston is used to show the narrative of the relationship of the owner and his partner. Winston is eating food whilst the two ignore each other on the couch. The owner and his partner rarely have shots on them without blur. This shows the obliviousness to the relationship but an effect of it. This Narrative technique separates Winston from the couple which then suggests he doesn’t care or doesn’t know which then changes in the conflict resolution. A scene showing the acceleration of time is when there’s a series of shots of the car doors opening and closing. This is allows the viewer to be made aware and enhances the idea that so many days and events have passed during their friendship and that many experiences have taken place. This is effective in showing the way the story is told. The scenes that follow Jenny’s departure show a montage of Gary on patrol as a solo. This allows the viewer to realise how hollow he feels after her leaving. This shows a long length of time has passed while Gary is patrolling alone. He then gets a new partner and the cycle of forming a new relationship begins again.
