And On The 9th Day God Made A Dog Analysis

Since man has learned to domesticate animals, dogs have become man’s best friend. Dogs were bred and trained for a variety of things such as being guards, hunters or herders, which is what helps to make them a good companion. These animals are loyal and loving no matter who you are or what you do, and really, what more could you ask for in a friend? For this reason, I think it is extremely important to respect and understand these creatures and I believe my short video, “And On the 9th Day, God Made a Dog”, makes this point. It is important to note that this is not an ad that is trying to sell you a product, but more of a story that will make you appreciate the things our pals do for us even without our asking. I usually like to browse through my local shelter’s website to see what their needs are and what type of volunteer work/fostering can be done. While I was doing this, I stumbled upon this video, and after watching it, I had an extremely powerful urge to go love and hug on my dogs to make them understand how much I appreciated them (even if they were not sure why I was hugging them so tight). The first aspect that stood out is what is being said about the dogs. The video took a religious route by making a reference to the first book and story of the Bible, which I think draws in an obvious audience- Christians. I found this to prove true because I am a Christian and the reference to the Bible immediately drew me in. I think this “addition” to the story is something that draws people in, and draws importance to the dog. The video says “God looked down on His wide-eyed children and said they need a companion, so God made a dog.” This statement displays dogs as being so important in our daily lives that God had to devote a day to making them. For that reason, I think this video draws in a large audience, especially …show more content…
I consider pictures to be more touching because they are not as limiting as a video can be. Videos can absolutely cause many types of emotions, but they can also be limiting since your mind is typically not given the chance to make its own story. The pictures in this video are black and white and more somber tones at first, but as the video progresses, the pictures tend to be brightly colored and have an overall happy feel to them. I think this progression is important because it seems to make the dogs look better and better as the video starts producing more important reasons that God made a dog. When the video says “somebody who no matter what you didn’t do, or couldn’t take, or didn’t win, or couldn’t make, will love you without judgement just the same, so God made a dog” the pictures really stand out to me, because they were the perfect mix of somber and joyful. I find that this tugged on my heart strings as the pictures of dogs who truly appeared to be encouraging you right through the screen flashed before me. I personally do not feel like the video would have been the same if it had much movement or more people, because this would have limited us the thinking about the fun moments owners can have with their dogs, rather than how dogs produce these

During my excursion to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, I quickly realized many of the emotional connections that humans and their canine pets share. Prior to visiting with the dogs, I made my way around the cat shelter area. After observing the cats, it became evident that their many of their “cute” behaviors were aimed solely at attracting the attention of potential human companions. For instance, a white cat named Sirocco made a distinctive pawing motion whenever I passed her cage, as if she was beckoning me to come closer and visit with her. Yet, after she had garnered my awareness, the snow colored tabby simply retreated back onto to her cardboard bed to continue her restful afternoon.…

Although my first dog, Dixie, had many training challenges, our abilities to work through them made us successful. My struggles with her training, accompanied by many tears, carefully shaped me into a better trainer and handler both in and out of competition.…

Dogs were once seen as a status symbol in American society, and are now seen as a symbol of companionship and widely regarded as “a man’s best friend”. Animals and dogs, in particular, have a unique power to persuade consumers when used properly in advertising, and many companies take great advantage of this marketing tool.…
