The reporter, on the other hand, was determined to snatch her from death" (qtd.in Allende 3). This quote proves Rolf Carle's tenacity towards saving Azucena. This suggests that he sustained persistence to go towards desperate measures while never giving up hope. That way Carle could save Azucena from the telluric catastrophe. The exact connotative actions of tenacity reflect on Rolf Carle in the following piece of evidence " Hang on Azucena, we'll have the pump tomorrow Rolf Carle tried to console her, Don't leave me alone she begged No, of course, I won't leave you"(qtd. in Allende 3). This chunk of evidence exemplifies the fact that Rolf Carle may be considered a heroic character for the reason that although he did not save poor Azucena he made desperate attempts in getting rid of the main conflict. Ultimately, for some to be classified as a hero or obtain heroic qualities it is unnecessary to always achieve excellence in every challenging situation. Heroism can best be demonstrated by their standards and qualities such as persistence and humility that contributed to many heroic connotations. Most importantly, heroes might most likely imply their intentions by actions such as disregarding your safety to help someone in need of assistance, or persisting in a cause even when hope seems lost, in search of no recognition for any of your achievements.
