Examples of these are the Kemetic (Egyptian) religion, the ancient Norse religion (being called Asatru today), and old

Hellenism is a traditional ancient greek polytheistic religion. Those who believe in Hellenism believe in the twelve Olympian gods; Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Athena, Apollo, Artemis,Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Ares, and Hermes (although there is speculation if other gods are more important than these). They typically believe these gods lived on Mount Olympus, a mountain in Greece, that at the time, was too high for anyone to visit. Their beliefs are similar to the Romans. Roy, I agree and disagree with your statement that “Pagans in these mediums are portrayed as savages for the most part, where the Christians are usually the civilized people. It turns out that the word Pagan actually really stems from the Latin word for countryside or peasant, which makes sense that they are portrayed in that sense by fictional works of art.”. The victors of any war are the ones that write history. They are able to justify their cause and label the other side as evil since they are the winners. As Paganism was rampant in Europe before Christianity and once the Christians dominated the Pagans they got to declare what is good or evil.…

In the beginning of this course we were able to decide our groups, and with that we would be picking what area of research we will as a group study throughout the semester. I knew right away that I wanted to be apart of the group that studies religion. I chose this group because I personally am a very religious person, and the only thing I have ever learned about ancient Greece and ancient Rome was their mythology and religion. What I expected to find through my research was people being executed for not following religious traditions, individuals being put into exile for not following religious practices, and most importantly religion being used as evidence in cases. What I ended up finding was very far from what I expected.…

In terms of scientific, philosophical, and cultural influence, Greece was the American equivalent to the ancient world. Their influence was far-reaching, impacting nearly every country on the eastern Mediterranean. However beneficial their influence was on the political and artistic realms of the nations surrounding it, their worldview was predominantly pagan as their main religion was polytheistic Hellenism[1]. Their beliefs were often very loosely-based on biblical truths, but more often religious lies bred by cultures that drifted further and further from God after the Flood. This perversion of truth caused the view of an artist to be distorted in the eyes of the viewer, but more importantly, it drew the viewer away from the truth that God…

Religion played a key role in many ancient societies including the Romans and Greeks. The daily lives of the people in these two distinct yet in some ways similar cultures were greatly impacted by their religious beliefs. Both the Greeks and the Romans were polytheistic and had gods or goddesses that controlled many elements. However, the adaptability of the gods and the amount of religious freedom of both cultures varied. In both Greek and Roman society, the gods and goddesses were important and were responsible for the earth, sea, sun, sky as well as various other elements of nature and social life.…
