Judaism innovated the idea of one God about 3000 years ago, with the Israelites. Though it was restricted to the people of Israel, this was the first time a monotheistic religion came into play. Worshipping the same God of Israel, Christians were the second monotheistic believers. The teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth were next to become revolutionary.…

In the beginning of the this course I believed that religion consisted of worshipping a God or a higher power, but through the semester I have realized that religion does not have to revolve around a God or Gods. Through the analyzation of a variety of religions we can see that religion is a common set of beliefs among a numbered amount of people that involves ritual practices that create a meaning to life. I came to this definition, though it is far from perfect, by looking at the different religions and what they encompass. Several religions such as Buddhism do not worship a God but they still come together with their common beliefs and motivations to practice certain rituals. While some religions have several Gods and Goddesses such as Hinduism…

The Christian holy book is called the Bible which contains the Jewish Torah in its first half called the “Old Testament,” which in part works as a history lesson for the Christian but there are still points in there that stay relevant to the beliefs of the faith today, and it contain the teachings of Jesus and his disciples in the second half of the Bible called the “New Testament”. The Muslim Holy book is called the Qur’an which contains the account of the Holy Revelations that Muhammad receive when the Angel Gabriel came to him to give him God’s word and is meant to be something one recites. There is also another important book in the Islamic faith which is the Hadith which contains the record of the words and/or actions of Muhammad and those close to him but this is not a book regarded as the word of God as Muslims believe Muhammad to just be a great prophet who is not of divine origins. Most Christians as a whole and Muslims believe in an eternal paradise and an eternal punishment in hell for peoples souls to go to once they die. However, Christians believe that one day that the bodies of believers will join them in the after life once the end of the world happens when Jesus returns.…

I believe that the three religions should be grouped together as each seems to branch off from the previous religion. Judaism is the oldest of the three and provides a good foundation for the other two. Christianity came second as a branch of Judaism. There are talks of Jesus and Abraham in the Islam religion showing that it is also a branch off of Judaism, however it isn’t tied into Christianity as much. Each of the three religions are monotheistic, they each worship a single god, the same god so it seems.…
