Greek women had to majorly contribute in the domestic household work when the male members of their family went outside for jobs and other important social matters. Women proactively participated in child raising, sewing of clothes, cooking, washing, weaving, and farming in the fields. Another way to claim rights in the property for women was if the brother of a woman died then she could claim the property of her brother.The only possibility of a woman to get rights in property was that if she gets divorced without having any children with her husband. These unequal and unfair property laws in Ancient Greece allowed men to dominate in the society in all perspectives with no tolerance of women rights. Women were granted no political or social position or influence because they had nothing to trade to gain power. Dowry was an essential part of marriage and those women who had no dowry to offer, they were barred from marrying a man according to Greek laws.
