The art show exhibit, Aktion, was inspired by posters, prints, and rare books of Germany's revolutionary war, and it shows the role artwork took in this era. It shows the violent and powerful struggle of Germany's civil war, during the end of the World War. during the time the painting was based on there was many of battles held on the streets and art didn’t only show political positions, but social change in the society. The civil war lasted about one year from 1918-1919, it had happened due to the supreme command’s bad coordination and awful ways of commanding their population. Due to this, and outbreak of socialists decided to take action and put an end to this leaving the command to little to no power and the Weimar constitution was adopted. …show more content…
The First image (on top) shows how the people had rebelled against their commanding officers and began a whole group of socialists fighting for a better government. the color scheme of the first image shows how dark the time was when it happened, even after the first World War, Germany had to put up with yet another battle, and it’s with themselves. The second artwork shows that it didn’t matter what gender you were, you could help in the revolution and change their fate. It shows a German Female holding up a red flag while a German man stands beside her showing that for that time in history they need everyone to help. The two people in the Art give a sense of unification in that you can be anyone to help, it shows a woman dressed in casual clothing and a man in formal work attire which shows strength. I put the art in the scary side because the fist artwork shows a whole society going against themselves in rebellion. It shows people shoving and fighting for what they think is right, Death and destruction is what had come after a war for these people and all they could do is fight for a better

Through Hagen Koch’s “preservation of historical monuments”, and attempts to maintain his guard tower, Funder demonstrates how some individuals struggle to move on from the GDR, as they are still nostalgic for it despite the horrors of what occurred. This is also explored as Koch ensures that developers can’t destroy his tower and instead must “build apartments around it”, demonstrating that although some members of unified Germany have attempted to rebuild and remove the past, individuals who are “against forgetting” are preventing them from doing so. In contrast to this, Funder also explores how a new “sanitised, disney version” of the wall is built, in order to identify the city’s attempt to rebuild. Although the state acknowledges that the wall existed, they have removed all the graffiti in order to create an “airbrushed” history, that is clean from the impact of the GDR on individuals. Furthermore, this idea is supported as Anna visits the Noremeninfejnfkjsn headquarters, where the cleaner is unable to remove “the smell of old men”, and the grease mark off the wall.…

Pictures reactions, responses 1) Page 265 shows a picture of an Indian school called Lincoln Institution Indian Department. This school was to eradicate the Indian culture by teaching them American and European ways of life. This shows a cruel act by the United States because the Indian population was in this continent first and this is their land, that we took away from them. This picture illustrates that their culture and lifestyle were not acceptable in that society and, for this reason, we force them to abandon their religion, language, and their styles of dress.…

My first piece of art that goes with the book Night, is a painting on a canvas. It depicts a silhouette of a man looking at a sky that is split in half. One half is in color and the other is black and white, the color side has a Jewish flag while the black and white side has a picture of a building. I decided to draw this to show the theme of dark and light or good and bad. The colorful side shows the night sky in different shades of blue with bright yellow stars, this shows the goodness in the world before the Holocaust.…

The United States during the nineteenth century can be described in many different ways. Most people will remember it as the time period of the American civil war and the end of legal slavery in southern states. The most defining attribute was the struggle of power between differing races and genders, as the slaves were on the verge of independence, while women across the country made countless efforts to obtain the same freedoms white males enjoyed. 1) In the illustration of “Virginian Luxuries” the message of white supremacy is displayed.…

Holocaust Paper The Holocaust museum located in Washington D.C. has an interesting history from the efforts that went into the creation and design of this museum. Part of what makes this museum so interesting is the architecture, artifacts and the way that the museum tries to evoke the audience’s emotions. A thing to remember when discussing the Holocaust exhibits is that the museum wanted the audience to understand that, “the museum in Washington D.C., is not a center of Holocaust remembrance, but an extension of the fabric of the center: the original sites. ” These subjects can give a sense of meaning to the audience and how they could perceive the Holocaust in their own way.…

After the Treaty of Versailles named Germany as the sole cause and loser of the First World War, the country sank into a deep economic depression as it was forced to pay off immense reparations as payment for starting the war. Of course, this destroyed the economic stability of the people as it created rampant inflation that would only worsen in the decades following. The story of The Orator is thus clearly a story about a people devastated by a failing economy and national identity best seen in the pale and bony hands of the audience that hand limply from their reaching arms. They are the hands of a people in desperate need of good news that they hope the speaker can provide. While there is no clear light source in the painting, the light seems to be coming out from the speaker himself as he is bathed in light.…

In 1936, German Jewish philosopher and cultural critic Walter Benjamin coined the idea of “aestheticization of politics”. This theory expresses the idea that life and affairs of living are made to be innately artistic and are thus related to politics in the same manner. This means that politics can be viewed as artistic and structured as that of an art form that corresponds with the concept that life is also to be seen artistically. Benjamin believed that this theory of aestheticization of politics was a vital aspect to Fascist regimes. The rise of fascism within Europe, and especially within Germany, was the epochal transformation during Benjamin’s time and also created a threatening connotation to Benjamin him self’s life as a Jew and as a radical during this time period.…

In the featured mural “Man at the Crossroads,” the artist, Diego Rivera, justifies his thesis on a world in utter social turmoil. During the early 1900s, social upheaval spread across the world like wildfire, with a particular focus on WWI and WWII as a method of change in government. The mural addresses issues that Rivera has seen as not only his political views, but a means to move forward to the future. Therefore, Rivera addresses this fact in the title of his piece, there is a crossroad implied for a brighter technologically advanced future or a continued path of turmoil and destruction. In other words, Rivera wants onlookers to view his work as a way to think about how political choices and leadership of societies can affect civilization…
