What do you believe in? That was a question that many people have pondered for centuries, who created humans and how. Faith is the foundation of religion and it is what influences people to act in a certain way to measure up to their beliefs and society. The Ancient civilizations of the Middle East is where the first religions sprung, and in the other civilizations such as Greek and Rome is where religion had an impact on how literature was created. Mesopotamia is the cradle of the first religions in the world, due to migration of people many religions arose from there, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. According to the Lou Hackett Silberman, Moshe Greenberg and other writers from Encyclopaedia Britannica, the creation myth of Judaism is that a divine God created humans, both Christianity and Judaism believe that one divine God created Humans (Silberman, et al). The people in Mesopotamia function as the Bible had stated, there was laws that people followed that shaped the society. The laws were meant to improve the morals and values of people so that were lived their life without sin, and to improve their way of living as good civilians. They would spend their days doing agriculture which was rich in soil due to the Euphrates and Tigris river, and praising the god in the Ziggurats. Religion affected how people married, the expectation was that the women were to be pure until marriage. Mesopotamia invented the first writings, and in their texts, it explained how women were to be veiled. They also had a strict family system, due to the discipline of religion, sons and daughters could not live their father's house until marriage.
