Confucianism appealed to me in that authoritative conduct was the final product or “fruit” of personal development. As a psychology major, I became familiar with the term authoritative, especially in contrast with authoritarian, while learning about different parenting styles. Authoritative parenting is the best style of parenting, according to research. I am impressed that authoritative conduct is central to Confucianism because I see an authoritative approach to raising children as the only way to raise happy, bright, well-adjusted children.
