Anatomy Of Hate

Going to watch Anatomy of Hate at 9 pm, I did not know what to expect. Once the film started playing though my gut reaction was disturbed. I could not understand how others could tear someone down based on skin color and religion. I have known what happened in Germany during world war 2, but somehow I have held out hope that there were no one treating people terribly in America. What disgusted me was seeing how parents portrayed views on their own children that were discriminatory and seeing how children would hold signs with words I never could imagine saying.
The children following in their parents footsteps is one of the parts that have stuck with me. Wanting to become a Resident Assistant I cringe at knowing students could portray these feelings towards one another and it is a hard thought to accept. As well as wanting to become a teacher I see how children do not think about right or wrong but just trying to please their parents. This is hard to fix but with compassion, one can see how to love instead of hating those who are unique. The part that affected me most was hating those different from us. In the movie a person had said “to educate people to kill people is as hard as to train people to accept people”. Reflecting on that quote I realize how hate is truly taught at a young age,

This shows through the picket lines protesting the LGBT community. The change of lyrics to “God hates America” shows them not accepting others values in life. Also seen with the Nazi and how they killed anyone who had blood lines of Jew in them. Hate would not be a thing if we showed our community how to treat others in love instead of loath. They say hate is taught, but so is love. I believe we can overcome the cause of hate if we follow Buddha’s quote of “Only love dispels hate”. Teach love in schools and show how in past history those who have hated others only caused death and narrow-mindedness

As long as we have lived, it is easy to be cruel and for any of us to be at fault. Quoted from the article, “If we fully apprehend the true cause of cruelty, we are also forced to recognize just how easy it is to prey to it.” An example to go along to this quote comes from Mrs. Elliott’s class experiment. Mrs. Elliott’s young children were being discriminated against, just because of having different color eyes. Young children were being treated differently just because of the way they looked.…

Protection of the people’s opinions, something that sounds beneficial for the people but, what if that was changed to the protection of the people’s opinion of the loathing of the people that support our companies. Is it fair for the immigrants to be treated with poor working conditions and low wages?Although they sustain our country’s economy, the citizens still treat them like lesser beings. Hatred has been expressed through small arguments and can be stretched out into wars and terror attacks. Although there is a way to stop hatred in the world, people can sometimes be stubborn and not do and listen to the right thing. However, there are some things that people hate for the well-being such as humans being racist to each other and terror attacks. Sometimes people even go out on the streets and protest in order to get their word out. As I was watching it, it evoked a lot of unpleasant emotional feeling such as sadness, anger, sympathy, pain, and powerlessness. My eyes were full of tears throughout the documentary as Susan describing how Alan was living his life and how it influences her and her family. Watching the documentary evoked those feeling because a lot could have been done to improve Alan’s conditions, but because of the lack of knowledge great deal of wrong were done that could have been prevented. The guilt that Mitzi (the mother) carried her whole life that she was responsible for her son condition, and Alan condition would have been so much improved if he would have got better care and one-on-one attention from the beginning. Watching the film, I also felt extremely powerless as today we understand the problem and know how to address it, for the most part, but in some places of the world there are still people who are experiencing the same situation as Mitzi, Bill, and Susan.…

When I was younger, I was very self-absorbed. The only situations or people that concerned me were those that were directly around me, and I devoted very little thought to those who lived their lives differently than I did. The concept of “world peace” had obviously appealed to me, but I had never really thought about the means of which worldwide peace could be attained. It had always seemed like someone else’s problem, as if my blind support of this intangible concept was enough to make me a decent person. I realize now that my blind support of an idea that I didn’t fully understand only increased my ignorance.…

A hate-based society is common in the fictional novel 1984 by George Orwell and in our real world, a hate-based society is not an irrational idea. The idea of a hate-based society is founded on fear, power, and of course, hatred. I happen to believe that a society based off hatred and suffering can survive, but that does not mean I would want to live in that particularly shaped society such as Winston Smith did in 1984. In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, a character named O’brien says, “Old civilizations claimed that they were founded on love and justice.…
