On December 31, I decided to focus on the anatomy of a wolf. I found a great article on www.runningwiththewolves.com. I found out that a wolf shoulders can be between 26 to 38 inches (Wolf Howl Organization). The length from their head to the base of their tail is 40 to 50 inches (Wolf Howl Organization). Their tail’s lengths can range from 13 to 20 inches (Wolf Howl Organization). Female wolves weigh 20% less than male wolves (Wolf Howl Organization). During winter time, their fun can turn thicker which can provide heat and warmth for them (Wolf Howl Organization). It sheds the thick coat when spring comes to avoid overheating itself (Wolf Howl Organization). Wolves are usually born with blue deep blue eyes and it slowly changes color while the wolf grows older (Wolf Howl Organization). …show more content…
There is little research done if wolves are color blind or not but they may be partially color blind (Wolf Howl Organization). Their ears are triangular shaped and rounded on the top (Wolf Howl Organization). Their ears are flexible so they are able to fold ears behind their back against their head, side to side and forward (Wolf Howl Organization). “They use their ears for communicating too (Wolf Howl Organization).” “Hearing is a wolf’s second most developed sense (Wolf Howl Organization).” They have better hearing than domestic canines (Wolf Howl Organization). Dogs can hear 16 times better than humans (Wolf Howl Organization). Some experts say that they can hear 6 to 10 miles away (Wolf Howl Organization). Thier nose is rubber like at the end of their muzzle and above their lips (Wolf Howl Organization). The wolf’s nose is the only part that sweats because there are no sweat glands in their skin (Wolf Howl Organization). I stopped taking notes because there was a lot of information.
