I possess a quality of leadership that is as rallying as it is unyielding. I often find myself arriving at a decision, planning on how to accomplish this goal and standing by it. Although, this trait this can presumed as stubbornness, I place great emphasis on being a leader that presents herself as a figure of strong resolve but also as someone others can come to in a time of need. In my experience, by being a leader that serves as the foundation for her peer’s personal growth and prosperity will find this in return from them. However, this does not include yielding to faulty excuses or covering up what is lacking.…

Deena, Thank you for your post. Erin Brokovich was an excellent example of a leader found in popular culture. Your description of Erin portraits a woman who exudes determination. This sense of determination possessed by a leader is defined by Northouse (2013), as “the desire to get the job done [which] includes characteristics such as initiative, persistence, dominance, and drive” (p.25). I believe that this description fits Erin Brokovich to a tee.…

The aspiration of these great peoples have reached far beyond anything that our ancestors could have ever dreamed of and have helped usher in an era of unmatched prosperity for our community,” Gia said. It was my pleasure to have a chance to meet up and interview Ms. Gia Ly, the Chairwoman of the Vietnamese-American Chamber of Commerce (VACOC), co-owner of Crepe Corner and family business Zen Vegetarian in Westminster. I know that there are people who need the help of others, but a choice is always personal. That 's why I have the courage do try new things or “volunteer as tribute” when I see fit, because I look inside me for the right choice. My bravery shows when a task is asked upon my peers and myself, and I stand up first.…

In response to “The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader” we see all of those qualities in leaders such as Fredrick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and Harriet Tubman. The main target that stands out truly who we can all agree on is Harriet Tubman. She has the strongest show of leadership as she helps many escape slavery, giving up her life for others. Looking at her strongest and more noticeable qualities first. A leader is needed to guide those whose voices and/or actions are not as boisterous, in the pursuit of common good. That common good is shown through service for others, doing what is right despite the temporary physical toll. I hold dear to those principles and plan to embody selflessness throughout my life. Of my many activities, I believe my work through SSaLT (Student Services and Leadership Team) exemplifies selflessness the best. Everyone has someone they look up to, since they were a child maybe and up to this day. Though not all leaders are champions, they are both courageous and passionate about what they are trying to accomplish James J. Braddock was one of the many people trying to strive for accomplishment during the Great Depression. A normal person might strive to be average, to be the okay for the moment and never truly use their full potential. For a normal person, being in a leadership position can sometimes be too hard, complicated, and stressful if they are not dedicated or prepared. Each of these factors can discourage many people, people who have the potential but not the training or motivation to hold a position of leadership. I, however, believe that I have the potential, the training, and the motivation to do something amazing as the VP of District Four.
