She talked a lot about what she witnessed over her spring break, but I was able to see that she is still trying to make the transition into an adult. If we look closely enough under the surface, we notice that she is self-focused, feeling in-between, and exploring her identity and who she wants to be. Those are some of the key features for emerging into adulthood. This is how Ana described that scene, “The first time I saw Noa, she ran across the street jumping around and gave Leah a big hug. That’s nice but I could tell she wasn’t genuine. She doesn’t even like Leah but has to be nice since Leah is showing her around La Jolla. She was asian, had perfect make up, and a sundress and sandals that clapped against the concrete. She gave me a over-done smile and shaked my hand vigorously. “I’m Noa” she beamed” (1).
