Ana was a ticking time bomb, suppressing an eternity of cleverness and horniness. She relished and exploited every opportunity to impress, and Kitty made her smarter. She was smarter in her presence because she needed to be to win her approval.
Whether Ms. Graham was smarter than Ms. Green is difficult to determine. She was certainly more secretive, and that little bit of indistinguishable gray area was enough so that the scale could be tipped in either direction. In the meanwhile, Kitty was playing along and had two years to decide if she wanted to risk everything and leap head-first into the deep end. These two years were the best years of their lives; neither of them had ever been so tested, inspired or driven to impress. They were crafty, supremely clever and completely undetectable. Their secret language had become so polished and subtle that they could communicate casually in a room full of oblivious family members. It was sexy because it was fucking daring; hidden in the limelight. The very idea of it's existence was a turn
