“Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together”
When reading this quote, to me, being impulsive in life means that you’re doing things without thinking and in a fast paced manner. This quote is explaining that in order to be successful we must have steps for it and be prepared for anything that comes in our way. What Van Gogh is also trying to say is, that you can do great things in life by having a process and taking many tries at it instead of giving up on something by only doing it once and not thinking critically.
For example, I have drove before and at first, I was clearly not ready and didn't know much about driving. For me, it was a learning experience. I had to practice and practice so that

The introductory unit is called “Life Almost Straight” because in this part of our life we are focused on getting into college and making the most of our last year together. In general, it is a sad year for many families sending their children off to college, and also for the students having to part with their lifelong friends to begin a new journey. The picture “Sorrow Teeming With Light” is an accurate representation because when life gets hard, how will you respond to it? Give up and embrace failure and sorrow, or see the light in all of the negative, work harder and find the positives no matter what.…

“All human beings are ultimately the same in that we are all equally powerless against nature.” Of all the potential themes in the list, this one by far seemed to be the most powerful and prominent overall theme of this story. Every element of the seems to point to the humbling reality that the forces of nature offer no pity to find themselves at its mercy. There are four men stranded on a small insignificant boat, which is easily overturned because of even the slightest movements. This small dismal boat is their only chance of survival as it floats along utterly defenseless atop the vast and cruel ocean.…

“ Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” - Abraham Lincoln I completely agree 100% with this quote because when people are faced with adversity, they can do nothing but fight an uphill battle, but when a man is the captor of power, they have to take in careful consideration on how their actions will affect people whether for better or worse.
