Nonverbal communication can include our clothing, physical appearance, gestures, facial and eye expressions, and more (The Communication Age). In this activity we had to play a type of charades where one person was in the middle and as a group we had to use a certain type of nonverbal communication to try and get that person to do a specific thing. One thing that we had to get them to do was walk out the door, and we could only communicate with them using our eyes. I was the orienter of the group. I challenged my group’s ideas to make sure that they would work and I would weigh out the positive and negative consequences of each option and would make sure that everything would work efficiently. I am the kind of person that needs to know and understand everything before it happens so I know that it will all work out. I fit the role of the orienter perfectly. Everyone put there input and ideas on what days we wanted to do the project. The next stage is the norming stage. “This is when your group resolves initial conflicts and begins working on the task” (The Communication …show more content…
I learned what it is like to work in a group and how important each person’s contribution is. I learned a lot of information on perceptions. In the book, “perception is the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something” (The Communication Age). I look at things different now. I am more aware of how people act around me and how to perceive certain situations. I learned how to think for myself, and work with people who I didn’t know. This class has been my favorite class that I have ever taken, and I will use the information that I learned in this class every
