The Timing Of The Birth Of Jesus

Improved Essays
The timing of the birth of Jesus was the right time because it was the appointed time of God. God knew, before the earth was created, what He wanted to do and how life and history would unfold. This may sound odd, but I visualize the beginning of the world up until the birth of Jesus as a pregnancy. Just like time that goes by in a pregnancy, there are trimesters, or periods of time that are marked by specific events culminating in the birth of a child. Jesus, is that child and the different eras of history mark the “trimesters.” I see this birthing process of Jesus taking place in 3 trimesters; first and second trimester takes place within two sections in the Old Testament and then the Intertestamental Period is the third trimester.
The Old Testament is God’s story of mankind and of Israel, the nation. The story of mankind can be found in the Bible in Genesis

Man was ready to be released from the bondage of the law. As I said up above, God had appointed the time before the earth was formed as there is no “time” with God. He can go in and out of time. So Jesus really came when He was supposed to. The world was ripe and ready for a Messiah. Jesus was born to bring salvation to man. He had all the qualifications and was prophesied about in the Old Testament. He was human, born from a virgin woman and he faced every and all the same temptations and problems that every person faces in their lives. He was also born “under the law”, so all the same expectations applied to Him as well. What this means to me and what I am most thankful for is that Jesus perfectly fulfilled God 's law, being without sin, and he did this as a mortal man. Without Jesus, I would be dead. He is my Passover lamb. He came to save all of us, just in the nick of time. He gave us life. John 10:10 puts it perfectly when he writes, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it

Graeme Goldsworthy says in According to Plan, “The Gospel is the word about Jesus Christ and what he did for us in order to restore us to a right relationship with God” (Goldsworthy 73). This is it, this is what God has been promising. These are the words come into being. John 1:1-5, 9, says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.…

Many people would agree that Jesus was sent to the people of Earth to tell them about God and how to live a life that would guarantee them entry into the kingdom of Heaven. His purpose, in essence, was to be a teacher to the ignorant people of the world. He was aware of his calling as a teacher and, because of that, he was able to put all of his passion into everything that he was teaching. When a pupil can see the great amount of passion that a teacher has for his work, the respect that they have for that teacher deepens, and the authority that the teacher has grows. Jesus wanted nothing in return for his teachings; he didn’t want power, he didn’t want money, all he wanted was to enlighten all those who listened to him.…

N.T Wight, in his book Simply Jesus argues that modern people are guilty of oversimplifying Jesus, because they do not understand who Jesus really was, what he did, and why that matters. To truly understand who Jesus was, we must look at him from a first century perspective. People believed in many different ideas than what is believed today, so it is necessary to think in a way similar to how people in the first century thought in order to have a better understanding of who he was as a historical figure. To further understand Jesus, Wright argues that one must also be familiar with what he did in his lifetime. In his lifetime, Jesus gave a taste of the reality of what having God as king would be like, and acted as a walking temple.…

God had preordained the time when Jesus, in his christological character, would come into the world and right the cosmic wrong of Adam’s fall. Because humanity had become so broken, the gap between God and and people was too wide for humans to bridge toward salvation. Thus, God, being wholly good, determined that Jesus, wholly perfect, would be born of a virgin and die on a tree to atone for humanity’s sin. Jesus experienced every human suffering, including crucifixion, and he genuinely rose from the dead on the third…

“The announcement of the birth of this newborn king of the Jews greatly troubles not only King Herod but all Jerusalem” (Matthew 2:1-3), yet the Gentile Maji are overjoyed to find him and offer him their homage and gifts (Matthew 2:10-11). This explains how the ultimate rejection Jesus faces from his own people but gains acceptance from the Gentile nations. Jesus must escape the murderous plans of Herod and escape to Egypt where he will relive the Exodus experience in Israel. The angel of the lord appeared in Josephs dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt and stay there until I tell you (Matthew 2:13). Biblical traditions regarding Moses are applied to young Jesus.…

The gospels in the Bible are subjective; they do not just state facts, they are a narration about Jesus’ life and works, which makes it open to interpretation. Everyone has their own concept for Jesus’ ideals of his powers. The only source for historical Jesus is found in the four gospels. While the four gospels have similarities, they also contradict each other. They were also released years after Jesus’ death, and they are not first-hand accounts.…

This is considered to be the greatest act of redemption in the New Testament when God gave His one and only perfect son to die on a cross so that we might one day live with God for eternity. Jesus spent His life on earth revealing Himself as the Savior of the world to both the Jews and the Gentiles. Jesus performed many miracles; healing the sick and diseased, raising the dead to life, casting out of demons, and controlling nature. By coming from the line of David, Jesus showed that He had control to be the king God had chosen to lead Israel. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are able to be reconnected with God in heaven while on earth.…

    1. Matthew and Luke’s birth narratives have many obvious differences when you first read them. In Luke’s account he starts off with the birth of John, but in Matthews account he starts off with traces of Joseph’s family tree. Between these two accounts they are still portraying two different point of views. If we were to try and put the birth of John from Luke’s account in Matthews account it wouldn 't really change the story that much, but it would affect the entire format of Matthews gospel.…

Jesus’ identity and purpose has been a great source of discussion and investigation through the years. Although many people do not seem to believe in the importance and legacy of His life, there are many profs and facts that show the meaning of His days physically living in our world. Jesus came to show us the correct way to live and direct our actions towards others. For example, in Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus speaks about loving one’s enemies. He mentions how important it is to love, bless and pray for those who curse, hate, use and persecute us (Matthew 5:44).…
