Analyzing The Film 'Together'

Improved Essays
In total I have direct five short films. The most notable being two shorts entitled “Together” and “Retribution”. “Together” tells the story of a young widower haunted by extreme grief who spends his days communicating with a tablet as if it were the one he has lost. When the tablet is destroyed the man begins a quest to continue his coping method. Desperate and depressed, the man hires a woman to re-create the last moments of his previous relationship, all while dressed up as the woman he has lost. “Together” has currently won numerous awards and accolades, such as the San Diego Filmmakers Group 2014 Student Scholarship, selection into The Monthly Film Festival, and selection into the LA CineFest. In addition, on a student production level

In October of 2015, the RISD Museum showcased the work of two Turner Prize winning artists, Martin Boyce and Luke Fowler: Boyce’s work as a four-month exhibit of primarily sculpture and Fowler’s as a single screening of his film All Divided Selves. The two artists are contemporaries both living in Glasgow, but their similarities go beyond generation and nationality; they both present everyday reality in a way that makes us question our assumptions, while suggesting undertones of fear and anxiety and using motifs of Irish and Scottish folk culture. Despite these connections between the works of Boyce and Fowler, which could be explored further, Fowler’s film is an independent work that can stand alone within the context of British contemporary art. Following traditions of filmmaking in the latter half of the 20th century, All Divided Selves explores the dichotomies of how reality is filtered through the mind, while simultaneously involving and alienating the viewer. Filmed roughly in the style of a documentary, All Divided Selves is composed of archived clips of the psychiatrist R. D. Laing, the subject of the film, his pertinent contemporaries, and Luke Fowler’s original footage, edited by Fowler and overlaid…

‘The Outsiders’ is a movie I found very enjoyable to watch. The movie had an excellent plot that effectively showed the theme of friendship. The plot was realistic and felt like it really happened, as well as not having a dramatic ending. For example, Ponyboy and his brothers didn’t have a favourable family situation and it wasn’t portrayed like they didn’t. Most movies would sugarcoat the reality and make Ponyboy seem happy and getting along with his brother without a hitch.…

The plot begins with three girls, Claire, Casey, and Marcia being kidnapped and knocked-out by a man named Kevin Crumb. Crumb is later determined as having dissociative identity disorder and has twenty-three different identities. The girls are then brought into an unknown room with no windows and Claire soon insists they must begin to fight back or they will have no chance of survival, Casey is skeptical of this idea.…

Through the years, the United States has changed a lot of laws. One of the most recent changes would be the legalization of marijuana, as its a type of drug and its a crime to possess/consume drugs. But that 's not the crime I’ll be talking about, this one is more revolutionary as seen in our modern society. Couples today are more diverse, compared back to the 20th century when segregation and racism were extreme.…

Is there eternal sunshine in the spotless mind? This is the question posed by writers Charlie Kaufman, Michel Gondry and Pierre Bismuth in their movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This movie, directed by Gondry, explores the idea that feelings and emotions are more powerful than memories, and that if we erased all of our memories, we would still possess the feelings and emotions that were created by those memories. The movie was inspired by a male friend of Bismuth who said that he would like to have all memory of his girlfriend erased. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tells a story about two people, Joel and Clementine, who are in a bad relationship and eventually break up.…
