In the essay that I wrote “Being a Giver and Success” I quoted, In other words of Adam Grant in Are you a Giver or a Taker? He states, ‘We all have moments of giving and taking. Your style is how you treat most of the people most of the time, your default’ (Grant 2017).

As this essay shows to introduce a quote you first must write a short sentence introducing the place where you got it from and the author. Then after that start with writing a verb describing what the author is doing when saying the quote, something like he said, or he states. In the essay “American Dream and Angelina Jolie” I wrote, “The American Dream represents the hope and the hard work to accomplish a goal or a dream that you have. Angelina Jolie is my trailblazer because she is a humanitarian and because of how inspirational, successful and very powerful women she is” (Roldan). I will say that the easiest part for me on an essay is introducing my thesis and topic. On my English 12th essay called “Who is the real monster: Victor Frankenstein or his creature?” the teacher congratulated me for my organization and how a summarize my conclusion. When I turned in this essay I thought that it wasn’t going to be that good but at the end it resulted on me getting an A on it. As writers, we must take risks and one risk that I took was including more detail on my conclusion, I tried to summarize my whole essay taking out the most important stuff and putting it on the conclusion. As I started on the conclusion I first addressed why victor was consider a monster, then how his behavior and selfishness lead him to a doomed end in a lonely and dark life

The Protest Movement in Selma, Alabama, in 1965: A Journey in Writing While taking a college undergraduate history course, I was required to write a series of essays and respond to several short-answer questions, on the spectacular events that occurred in the American Civil Rights Movement. In particular, one essay discussed the connection between the protest movement in Selma, Alabama, in 1965 and the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. I knew writing an essay about this topic would be challenging. For example, the essays, required for this assignment, addressed carefully selected questions about specific events that highlighted the American Civil Rights Movement. Also, the questions required separate essays, each requiring a length of approximately three hundred words or more.…

My writing was not terrible in some aspects, but I knew that it needed to be improved upon. I lacked the experience needed because writing was not something that I did on a daily basis. When I first started English 1302, the little confidence that I had significantly plummeted since my writing seemed childish compared to other students.…

(Murray 2). This essay was written in October, yet it clearly represents an ability to provide context for a quote. This is a skill that didn’t need to be worked on, unlike MLA formatting, which is a skill that many ninth graders did not know coming into this year. For example, my very first essay this year was a book review on The Nazi Hunters by Neal Bascomb, a book I had read over the summer. This essay lacks any sign of proper MLA formatting, with a bolded title, no date, and no page numbers.…
