Analyzing The Article 'Tessellations' By Dana Mackenzie

A tessellation is a group of shapes fitted together closely, and example would be a polygon in a repeated pattern with no gaps or no overlapping. You can tile floors with them or just make a fun design there are many things you can do with them. They are in bathrooms, kitchens, on quilts, etc. You may have never noticed what they were.
In the article (Tessellations) by Dana Mackenzie, it talks about how tessellation are all over the world in many ways. They are used in a lot of different designs. “Tessellations of a plane can be found in the regular patterns of tiles on a bathroom floor, of flagstones in a patio”. Math is used in more things than we know. Tessellations are cool patterns but can also be used for interior design and be decor for homes and business. “Tessellations allow an artist to translate a small motif into a pattern that covers an arbitrarily large area” (Dana Mackenzie). Therefore tessellations are very popular in the math world all over the
