Miss Strangeworth’s character can be analyzed by considering what she does. She is destructive. Mrs. Strangeworth is also very sneaky, and starts lots of strife between people. For example, it says in the passage, “ Miss Strangeworth never concerned herself with facts; her letters all dealt with the more negotiable stuff of suspicion.” It then goes on to say in addition, “Mr. Lewis would never have imagined for a minute that his grandson might be lifting petty cash from the store register.” Therefore this shows us that Miss Strangeworth really likes to stir up drama. One example of how I know that she is dedicated to her society, is because it says in the passage, “Clearly she knew everyone in town, of course: she was fond of telling strangers-tourists who sometimes passed through the town, and stopped to admire Miss Strangeworth’s roses-that she had never spent more than a day outside this town in all her long life. This lets us know she is dedicated to her town, because she has never left it. Miss Strangeworth is also very dedicated to this town, probably because of the fact that her family before her was so involved with it.
