Analyzing Herrera's Ethical Summary

Improved Essays
It seems Herrera tries to justify his wrong doings and make excuses for his unethical behavior in the beginning of his interview. Herrera’s actions are related to “cognitive rationalizations” because he admits in his interview that he was truly convinced that what he was doing was moral. (Fitch. 2011.) He was taught no other way and was being praised for it by his superiors. He said he knew it was wrong, at times, but, also, thought that is what he needed to do to get drug dealers and guns off the streets. It was effective in dropping the crime rate and it made him feel good about himself. Herrera was in denial for victims, responsibility, and injury.

In the event of evaluating the situation, my thoughts were focused on Randall and John, which never included Ariana, this allowed me to realize that in our attempt to be fair and make sound ethical communication decisions, we make mistakes by excluding people, due to their position, sex, or relations in a situation. Nevertheless, my partner, suggested that the ethical solution for this situation would be for John to approach both Randall and Ariana about the situations, which will give them a chance to make a professional ethical decision, since both are aware of the work policy.
