I went to the piano recital concert of the professor Rodney Reynerson. For my project, I chose the song Nocturne Wedding Day at Troldhhaugen by Edward Grieg. It is the diverse views of the spirit of generosity and humanitarian focus that Dickens seeks to expose in this literary work. The landscapes of the novella shift between the poverty stricken, sick and imprisoned to the higher classes whose enjoyment of the season is enriched by wealth, to the embittered character of Scrooge whose view is one of a day of waste. Dickens uses both outdoor and indoor landscape to create the character of Bob Cratchit by contrasting his dominated servant attitude while in service to Scrooge versus his openly loving father/husband role within the Cratchit family.…

Upon seeing A Christmas Carol on the night of Friday, November 18th, I had what I thought to be a firm understanding of the Charles Dicken’s classic. It was until the show was over that I realized my previous interpretation was completely senseless, with little to no opinion deriving beyond the script. As I dove into the performance in the Joan C, Edwards playhouse, I made personal connections that I had never made before when watching other adaptions of A Christmas Carol, in particular Scrooge (1970), my father’s favorite. Every detail of this performance aided in my overwhelming positive review, asserting this play as my favorite of all the revisions I have seen.…
