In Chapter Four of Holler If You Hear Me by Gregory Michie, the author describes how some of the other veteran teachers in his education classes expressed their views on the disconnect between education theory and classroom reality. One such example of this disconnect is the theory of differentiated instruction. However, it is this learner’s observation that although Wilson (2004) is not introducing new strategies or principles to enhance student learning; she has done an excellent job expounding on Chickering & Gamson’s (1997) seven principles to enhance student learning. These studies have been around for years as evident in Barr & Tagg's (1997) research. Wilson (2004) has expertly refocused previous research in her research and findings and well documented her findings based on the literature, which has proven successful over the years. Recommendations The following recommendations are compiled from personal observations upon a few visits to Ledyard, analysis of qualitative interviews with Mr. Allen and a few students, and feedback from a live session. It is important to note that while reviewing the pertinent information in making these recommendations, I found a certain level of conflict to be present in what resources are currently available and what resources I believe should be made available, and subsequently, what is currently viable. When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…
