Analyzing Faulkner's 'Welcoming Schools'

In chapter five of Welcoming Schools I found the handoff and the dialogue between the teacher and the parents of students that happens at that time very interesting. When parents bing their children to school some might see it as a transfer of responsibility and power. We should see a students education as an open dialogue and have a set of communication styles open with parents or guardians so that everyone can feel comfortable and important in the students education.

In the chapter it talked about that the "handoff" from parents to teacher being forbidden by some schools. Why would they want that line of communication cut off from the parent to the teacher? This is a great time to catch up with the parents and see how everything is going
