Analyzing Erikson's Stages Of Psychosocial Development

At age 3, something horrible happen to me; I was molested by a family member. I was at such as tender age. I was in head start and we had just learned about good and bad touch. It seems the family member was doing this for a little while before I knew it was wrong. One day he did it and I must’ve remembered that this is not a good touch; I told my mom, who when the act was occurring was in the basement doing laundry. This has affected my personal development greatly. I am 30 years old and still live with it daily. I always have trust issues; It’s hard to trust my daughter in the care of others and I always feel like someone is going to hurt her. I am also easy rattled; I am a very emotional person even if I don’t want to be. Erikson’s developmental stages are called psychosocial. The stage I would’ve been in when considering Erikson’s arrangement would be Initiative vs Guilt. Initiative vs Guilt stage is when a child wants to take initiative in life by being able to play without guidance of an adult if the adult happens to give too much criticism and the child experiences too much failures this is when guilt comes into place. The Piaget’s developmental stages were called cognitive development the stage I would be in at the age of 3 would’ve been the preoperational stage. The preoperational stage is when children have a very wide imagination. Children will see the world in their own eyes. They have a great imagination and are easily influenced; a child will learn to express themselves through spoken words.
