Decent Essays
In the song “You Give Love a Bad Name” by Bon Jovi he is saying that he feels betrayed and he doesn't like that. It talks about how he got betrayed by someone he once loved. In the beginning he says that he got shot through the heart, and that she’s to blame. By that he means that he feels abandoned and it's their fault and he feels like they were a mistake. In the middle he says paint your smile on your lips blood red nails on your fingertips a school boy's dream, you act so shy your very first kiss was your first kiss goodbye and by that he means that he fell for her because of these things. In the end he repeats shot through the heart and you're to blame you gave love a bad name again and he is saying that he blames her for betraying

“I Hold On” by Dierks Bentley addresses the topic of holding onto the things that are important to you. The song starts with him talking about how people are always saying that he should get a new truck, now that he has the money, but he doesn’t want a new truck because of its sentimental value. The theme of “I Hold On” is that you should hold onto the things that you can count on and believe in. In the lyrics, Dierks says “What they don't know is my dad and me, we drove her out to Tennessee, and she's still here and now he's gone” (Dierks Bentley 8-10). Now that his dad has passed, those memories with his dad in that truck mean more to him than having a brand new truck, which is why he holds onto that.…

Is Kanye West brewing another feud with Taylor Swift? As if his nasty verse about her in his new song "Famous" is not enough, the rapper took another shot at Swift and her win for her "Bad Blood" video, saying that A$AP Rocky deserved the Grammy and not her. This is like a deja vu from VMAs 2009 where West infamously interrupted Swift in the middle of her acceptance speech because he thinks that Beyonce deserved the award more. The 38-year-old recording artist and fashion designer is proving to everyone that he is still not done with his Twitter rants.…

The song “Better Than This” is performed by my favorite country artist, Hunter Hayes. The song is about how Hunter knew he was born to do something great, and he takes action to pursue his dream in music. He talks about the complications he went through, and he knows it will all turn out in the end. This song taught me that chasing your dream is not a clear and easy path; you have to be able to stand up to the complications “Better Than This” is mostly made up of approximate rhymes, like born and for. Exact rhymes also make up most of the song as in line and mine.…

Along in this stanza he reflects on the times at his childhood home 2014 Forest Hill Drive, a home physically far from perfect, until his mom defaulted on her loans, which caused the home he ever knew to become foreclosed. Uncertain of what his mom was going through, he explains and later apologizes that instead of being there to acknowledge his mother’s troubles, he was gladly indulging in women and chasing parties in New York City. Blaming himself for being selfish for chasing and enjoying his success, looking back on his life as an adult, he consequently is remorse about not being there for his loved ones. Fast forward in his life, now in a relationship, he is starting to notice that the way he treats his girlfriend is more robust and different in way compared to his relationship with his mother. Knowledgeable of this reality, he says, “And though it don’t always show I love her just like I love you” (verse 1 line 22), he reveals that although his past actions and relationships with others might suggest otherwise, however he wants her to know he loves her regardless of anything.…
