Analyzing Anthony's Health Problems

Decent Essays
During this assignment, I learnt a lot about Anthony’s health problems. This assignment motivated me to go and find resources and read about diabetes, hypertension, osteoarthritis and lifestyle choices that can affect these diseases. Because I haven’t and no one around me has experienced these health problems, I didn’t know a lot about them. Now I do, and how to prevent this from occurring to me and others. I have also learnt how to give a full health assessment through listening to this one and writing it out like I have actually done the interview.

The one co-pay that wasn't paid was for my emergency room visit of January 3, 2012. I wasn't even asked for that because my emergency room co-pays have always been asked for during discharge from the ER. However, I was not discharged that night and was directly admitted from the ER as an inpatient. I didn't pay the bills resulting from hospital visits after the MRI/MRCP pre-approval denials (of December 2011) because I knew the insurance company was very wrong for having denied them. I knew I had to question their decision and planned on getting legal advise on the matter.…

Jeffrey, I agree, the instant feedback that Shadow Health gives was very helpful. Knowing right away that area of the assessment that could be improved upon was helpful for me to understand the importance of it. My one critique is that I found I asked the same question over and over for different body systems. It would have been nice if that information could auto-populate on the texting screen prior to starting the question/answer portion of the exam. I understand the same question may be relevant for different systems, however, we had the same patient throughout the class.…

On November 17, 2015, I was able to attend the IPE Campus Activity held in the old gym. This event consists of all health professional students attending Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus. I believe there were close to 500 students that attended the IPE event. The students were separated into teams of various health professions. The group I was part of consisted of three pharmacists, a respiratory care therapist, an occupational therapist, a physical therapist, two nurses, the facilitator (who is a physical therapist as well), and myself with a public health profession.…

Dr. Flanagan’s risk assessment I would say it compares a lot to the reading assignment journal, “A tool for the culturally competent assessment of suicide: The Cultural Assessment of Risk for Suicide (CARS) measure. Psychological Assessment.” Dr. Flanagan’s risk assessment interview with Tommi is base on the depression assessment. I noticed that Dr. Flanagan started the evaluation confirming her culture. According to Chu (2013), The range of research on cultural suicide risk factors is difficult for anyone clinician or researcher to comprehensively grasp or access quickly within the limited time often allowed in crisis situations.…

Every Patient Tells a Story was a great book that offered unique perspectives on patient care. It provided an alternative way of thinking and approach to the physical examination. One of the first sections of the book that I found interesting described an analogy of a mechanic checking a vehicle. Mechanics cannot just check under the hood and see if a part needs to be replaced. Mechanics as with medical professionals need to take a detailed assessment and based on their findings are able to make an informed decision.…
