Analyzing Albom's Tuesdays With Morrie

Have you ever pictured how your life would end? For a poor elderly man, it was very time consuming and extremely sad. “Tuesdays with Morrie” is about a guy named Morrie that had ALS disease; which is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, it slowly paralyzes you until you reach your last heartbeat. Morrie accepted ALS but sees the stronger side of his disease that slowly kills your body. "I'm on the last great journey" (Albom 33). Morrie knows he's going to die but yet he sees the bright side of the situation; which is unlike most deaths, he gets to say his last good bye to his loved ones. This book will show how surreal life can be. “Tuesdays with Morrie” is a great book to read because it creates a life lesson about how crazy ALS is. It was weird because Morrie saw it as it were lucky to get ALS, which ruins your nervous system. …show more content…
He said he was blessed because he gets to say farewell to everyone he knows and loves. His disease was coincidental to him. Everyone should read this book because it is a great way to learn about diseases that take away human beings from this world. The focus on the novel was on life. Most probably will see it as the story of death, but it is the story life. Morrie utters a bit on how he meets the end, but he is talking about living at the end of his life. If you like toughing stories, then “Tuesdays with Morrie” is a good choice. I believe the intention, was all the Tuesday meetings leading up to Mitch’s funeral when the reason of the visits is for him to open up to Morrie with his emotions and thoughts. There were many things of the book that symbolized death. A thing that bothered Mitch was the oxygen tube that was put in Morrie's nose when he got closer to death. Mitch started to realize his death a lot more, "The oxygen tube was up his nose now. I hated the sight of it. To me, it symbolized helplessness. I wanted to pull it out.” (Albom
